What can we possibly do as individuals to counteract the violence and lack of empathy that characterize the world around us? Daily reports of senseless brutality and terrorism shake us to our core. Our default response is often a feeling of helplessness. When we’re kind, we inspire others to be kind, thereby creating a ripple effect that spreads outwards. As a pebble creates ripples when dropped in a pond, acts of kindness radiate outwards, touching others’ lives, propagating benevolence everywhere, until the ripple becomes a tidal wave that cycles back and lifts our own boats along with others’.
